Benefits of Gaming #001 – Improves cognitive skills

That’s right, I even have real evidence to back it up (did I mention that I have a psych degree? I love psychology…).

A study from the University of Illinois compared a range of cognitive abilities in gamers and non-gamers, and found that:

…Expert gamers and non-gamers differed on a number of basic cognitive skills: experts could track objects moving at greater speeds, better detected changes to objects stored in visual short-term memory, switched more quickly from one task to another, and mentally rotated objects more efficiently.

So cut him a little slack – it’s better than a diet of walnuts and berries!
