Ode to Blizzard

My partner has started playing WoW again, and I figured that I should probably say my thank yous before I get too bitter :)

Blizzard Entertainment, thank you for creating such amazingly addictive games. This is my ode to you. I hope you enjoy it.

Ode to Blizzard

This is my Ode to Blizzard

My partner plays World of Warcraft, and before that, Starcraft II
To whom do I owe this pleasure? Blizzard, I thank you.

For the constant morning gaming, which is his favourite trend
Ensures I never sleep too late, even on weekends

For the moments that he has to wait while his game is still in queue
That’s my chance to speak to him, and for this, I thank you

For giving us less couples time since he needs time to play
It strengthens our relationship, the heart grows fonder while he’s away

For the nights of server maintenance where he has nothing else to do,
We actually get to watch a movie, and for this, I thank you

For teaching him to strategise and how to not get killed
Many crises in real life could be saved with a Four Gate build

For showing me to understand and not always argue
I’ve learnt to be more patient, and for this, I thank you

For making me learn new lingo, it keeps me on my toes
I can understand what he is saying with each new MMO

For the amazing streams from players, it’s a world I never knew
Shows me gaming’s a common thing, and for this, I thank you

For keeping my guy off the streets and safe at home with me
The biggest threat he faces is a virtual 1v3

For fuelling my partner’s hobby, I must give credit where it is due
It’s truly awesome and he loves it – Blizzard, I thank you

    • Now now, I was amused by the post – hence the ‘very nice’ – it was a fun read.

Maybe I should have begun the following paragraph with a ‘however’ to indicate a shift in tone – since I AM quite the fan of Blizzard – but I never said: Oh wow, you love all things Blizzard too? Awesome – right there with ya’! I think perhaps you failed to see the tone of my post, but I’ll skip the name-calling Wiser. :)

Not really sure why my post triggered the ‘Hulk angry’ response there, but it’s all good. :) No doubt my wife would sympathize/agree with this little Ode, more than a few times referring to herself as a WoW-widow in in the past when I would play with friends for extended periods of time.

  • Very nice. :)

I have to say, I’ve long been a huge fan of Blizzard’s. I missed the original Warcraft, but have caught #’s 2 & 3 – plus sunk plenty of time into WoW a few years ago. Starcraft 1 & 2 and Diablo 1 (sadly, I missed Diablo 2) were all favorites of mine as well. The games always come out so polished and entertaining.
